Long-Awaited PlayStation 5 Adventure Game Delayed, Skipping Disc – Report
PS5 adventure game Tomb Raider Catalyst

A highly anticipated PS5 action adventure game seems to have been delayed into 2028, possibly skipping a disc launch as a result. We first heard rumors of Tomb Raider: Catalyst‘s potential delay several months ago, and just before the weekend, Amazon Games boss Jeffrey Gattis seemingly confirmed the report.

PS5 action adventure game Tomb Raider: Catalyst now expected in 2028

Speaking on The Game Business Show, Gattis suggested that Tomb Raider: Catalyst will now release in 2028. Worth noting that Legacy of Atlantis, which is scheduled to release before Catalyst, has already been delayed to February 2027.

“Atlantis comes February 12 of next year, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one,” Gattis said.

There’s been no official statement on the matter, but Legacy of Atlantis was also quietly delayed similarly. Following its rumored delay, the new Legacy of Atlantis release date was casually dropped during June 2026’s PlayStation State of Play.

If Catalyst does not release in January 2028, there’s a possibility that it will not release on disc, as it’ll miss Sony’s cut-off mark for disc production.

Not much is known about Catalyst yet.

“Set in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened mysterious guardian forces, Tomb Raider: Catalyst follows Lara Croft on a new adventure across Northern India,” an official description reads.
