A PlayStation 5 open-world game has received a trailer with an unlikely hero. The game, created by Knights Peak and Windup Games, has also unveiled its official release date. It will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5, and digitally on Xbox Series S and PC.
The official game’s description reads, “In Hela: of Mice & Magic, players take on the role of a small but agile mouse, helping a kind, wary witch care for the land she has protected for generations. Explore alone or together in various environments, such as forests, meadows, wetlands, and burrows. The witch provides the player with a backpack infused with magic, enabling them to explore further, reach higher, and interact with the world in new, and sometimes relaxing ways.”

What happens in Hela: of Mice & Magic’s trailer?
The trailer opens with two unlikely heroes, who are referred to as “little ones” by a witch. These heroes are mice who live with the witch, watching over her as she brews her potions.
As the trailer progresses, the magic wielder is shown talking about her legacy of protecting the forest they live in. Things take a turn when she disappears in a poof, startling the little heroes, only to reappear again. From the brewed potion, the witch pulls out two tiny bags and equips the mice with them.
She also provides them with a tiny bit of her magic in a jar, and tells them, “You will know what to do with it when the time comes. You will know how to weave the notes of the melody back together.” The trailer ends with the mice embarking on their newly acquired magical adventure.
The trailer sets an emotional tone for players, hinting at an open-world folklore storyline, among other things they can expect. The open-world game will be available in a digital and physical edition. The latter is called the Harmony Edition, and it can be purchased at physical stores.
In the Harmony Edition, players can get a copy of the game along with a digital download of its soundtrack by Frida Johansson and Henrik Oja. This edition also features a 48-page softcover art book, offering concept art, sketches, and inspirational photos beyond the game. Other features in this edition include an extra outer box, a reversible poster showcasing the game’s intricate map, and a set of exclusive stickers.
Hela: of Mice & Magic, digital and physical versions, will be released on December 1, 2026.
