A major 2026 PS5 game that was released last week, on September 4, has already received a server shutdown date from its publisher. 2K has a policy of scheduling server closures for its annual franchises, giving players plenty of notice. NBA 2K27 players have been told that they have just over two years to enjoy the game’s multiplayer features.

PS5 game NBA 2K27 gets a late 2028 shutdown date

NBA 2K27 is scheduled to go offline on December 31, 2028. However, 2K has made it clear that it reserves the right to “modify or discontinue online features at any time” in line with its terms of service.

As we’ve previously said, these notices are much welcome because annual video game franchises are immensely popular regardless of critic reception. So, those planning to pick up NBA 2K27 later down the line in a PS Store sale, especially trophy hunters, should know how much time they have with the game’s online features.

NBA 2K27 holds a Metacritic score of 77/100 based on 21 critic reviews for its PS5 version.
