Square Enix has released a free demo for one of its most anticipated releases of the year. Ahead of its release, the PlayStation 5 title is a spin-off that will be a monster-collecting RPG.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will launch on the PlayStation 5 on December 3, 2026. The game is going to allow players to befriend, raise, and eventually use in battle various Dragon Quest creatures.
What can players expect from Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World?
Apart from the aforementioned mechanics, which are part and parcel of most creature collecting games, The Withered World is also going to allow players to fuse their monsters to create a stronger variant, which can then be used to battle other creatures collected by other monster tamers.
The demo allows players to play only the introductory part of the game. It lets players play from the beginning of the story to the end of the Witherwood event, giving interested consumers a couple of hours of hands-on experience with the various systems that the game offers.
The demo also comes with some bonus material that players can port to the main game upon release. This comes in the form of a special item set, along with eight monsters that can be taken from the demo to be included in the main game. The ‘Wrangler’s Bundle’ includes one Ring of Impulse, one Bonus Ball, and five Smoked Sirloin.
It must be noted that full saved data from the demo is not transferable to the actual game, only the above-mentioned items. The game is rated E by the ESRB and will require PS Plus for online play. It contains references to Alcohol, depicts fantasy violence, and has mild language in certain lines of dialogue. Online play is optional and can support up to four players. PS5 and PS Portal cloud streaming services for the game and only supported for Premium members.
