Fans of classic run-and-gun action games can look forward to a new compilation of games coming to PS5 next year. SNK has announced the Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, which brings together 10 games from the franchise’s storied history in one package. It includes games from the franchise’s Neo Geo days to the later years of the sixth generation of consoles.

Here are all the games included in the collection:

• Metal Slug 4
• Metal Slug 5
• Metal Slug Advance
• Metal Slug 6
• Metal Slug 7
• Metal Slug Location Test Version

What can players expect from the Metal Slug Ultimate Collection?

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection also includes several enhancements and upgrades over the original titles. Players will be able to compete with each other on online leaderboards and explore the museum mode and the gallery. There are plenty of other quality-of-life improvements included, such as quick save, quick load, and rewind.

There are also other extra modes available in the collection, such as score attack and time attack. Another addition is the Combat School Mode, which helps newcomers get accustomed to the game’s controls and mechanics. The collection also includes a rare location test version of the original game that was never released to the public.

The Metal Slug franchise started in 1996, spawning over a dozen games over three decades. Its games have been released on a wide variety of platforms, including PC, home consoles, smartphones, and handheld devices. SNK most recently released Metal Slug Tactics in 2024, a spin-off with turn-based tactics gameplay.

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection will be available on PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch consoles. It will be released sometime in 2027.
