PS5 is getting a surprise release of a long-forgotten 1999 PS1 action game developed and published by Taito. Psychic Force 2012 (Psychic Force 2 on PlayStation) first launched in 1998, followed by the Dreamcast and PS1 in 1999. The game was also included in Psychic Force Complete anniversary pack for the PS2.

Psychic Force 2012 will release for the PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2027, per Gematsu. An Xbox release was not announced.

For the uninitiated, Psychic Force 2012 is a fighting game that was released as a sequel to 1996’s Psychic Force.

An Original Video Animation based on the video game series was launched in 1998.

“Rapid changes in the new century have brought forth a dangerous power capable of good or evil,” a synopsis reads (via Amazon). “Harnessing the psychic abilities of its residents, the government has turned its most gifted citizens into New Age guinea pigs, drained of their essence and discarded after serving their purpose.”
