PS Plus Extra and Premium users are warned not to download a September 2026 catalog game without first checking their PS5 and PS4 libraries. Sniper Elite: Resistance is currently part of the PS Plus Essential monthly free games lineup. If you redeem the game from Essential and download it via the Extra catalog today, you’ll end up losing the Essential license for good.

Downloading shooter game Sniper Elite: Resistance via PS Plus Extra will override Essential license

As a reminder, players who redeem monthly games via Essential and then download them later from the PS Plus Extra catalog are often locked out of those games for good. Essential games are yours to keep, but Extra/Premium games are not. If you re-download a game from Extra that you previously claimed via Essential, you will override your license. Once those games leave Extra, you can’t play them again unless you purchase them.

Players can contact Sony support for a fix, but a resolution isn’t guaranteed.

Sniper Elite: Resistance was released as an Essential freebie on September 1. The game is available in the Extra catalog today in all regions except the US, UK, and Japan, where it’ll be available on September 29. However, the warning applies to all subscribers irrespective of region.
