Konami Digital Entertainment’s latest survival action-horror title has officially launched for PlayStation 5 on the PlayStation Store. The project was developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and co-published by Konami alongside Annapurna Interactive.

Silent Hill: Townfall is out on the PlayStation Store today. The game is available for PS5 and also runs on the Pro console with enhanced visual features. It is currently listed for $49.99 for the standard edition, while the premium version, Deluxe Edition, costs $59.99.

The game’s official story description reads, “Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right,’ encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest.”

The story takes place in Scotland in 1996. Simon wakes up with only an IV bag and a medical wristband with his name on it. He heads into the fog-covered streets with no idea where to go, following voices coming through static.

One voice belongs to Zoe, a local nurse pleading for his return, while another belongs to Richard, a mysterious figure whose connection to Simon remains unclear.

Unlike the series’ usual third-person perspective, the horror game marks the first in the series to be presented entirely in first-person perspective. The gameplay encourages players to explore the surroundings and use limited available resources while dealing with the threats across the island.

Simon carries a pocket television called the CRTV, which replaces the series’ radio in previous titles. Speaking of combat, players can use melee and ranged weapons, but ammunition and other resources are limited. Melee weapons can also be used to block enemy attacks and create openings for counterattacks.

PlayStation LifeStyle rated the game 9/10, praising its atmosphere, exploration, and balance between its different gameplay mechanics.

The survival horror game is now available for PS5.
