The Witcher 3 Remastered patch notes have teased crucial PlayStation 5 upgrades and gameplay improvements. The remaster was announced last month at the Gamescom.
The patch notes confirm support for The Witcher 3 Remastered on PS5 Pro as well. Plus, the game will feature multithreaded rendering on PlayStation 5 for better overall performance.
Visual upgrades include improved lighting and shading for grass and foliage. Motion Blur has been enhanced as well, with a higher quality to get a highly cinematic look, according to the official website.
Beyond the PlayStation 5 upgrades, The Witcher 3 Remastered also reworks gameplay, UI & accessibility
The Witcher 3 Remastered consists of many key improvements for a better gameplay experience. Compared to the original game version, the skill system has been upgraded.
Skills are now organized into a skill tree, and each skill has three ranks. Additionally, unlocking new skills now requires necessary prerequisite skills rather than spending a set number of skill points. Some skills have been renamed to reflect their effects in a better way.
Players will now get to reforge their equipment to change its appearance without affecting its stats. Plus, they can unlock appearances by adding new equipment and crafting diagrams to their inventory.
During battles, players will witness a polished combat behavior of all non-boss monsters, including their attack patterns, counterattacks, movement, reactions, flight, and the application of effects. Other changes involve improved target-lock switching when moving the camera, alongside better animations for mounting and dismounting Roach.
As for UI changes, meditation now features a time-lapse instead of a UI screen. The map screen has been upgraded to make switching between tracked quests easier. Players can now hide herbs, boats, and corpses on the minimap in Settings → Video → Interface for a cleaner view.
Also, a brand-new Accessibility section has been added to the Settings menu, alongside a Bard’s Ballad preset.
In Photo Mode, players can now choose from multiple different characters to place in your shot. There’s now a new added selection of poses and expressions for Geralt and placeable characters. Also, players can now lock the camera position in Photo Mode to capture better shots.
The Witcher 3 Remastered releases on September 29, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
