A co-op game that won Game of the Year is now available on the PlayStation Store at a 70% discount. It Takes Two, developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts, is available for $11.99, down from its initial price of $39.99.

The game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 15, 2026. It is already available to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. It won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021 and the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

Why was It Takes Two critically acclaimed

Unlike other traditional games, It Takes Two strictly requires two players to progress, utilizing mandatory split-screen co-op for both local and online play.

The story follows Cody and May, a married couple planning a divorce whose lives are thrown into chaos when their daughter, Rose, accidentally transforms their minds into small, handmade dolls. Trapped in miniature form, the couple must overcome a series of fantastical challenges to return to their human bodies, repairing their fractured relationship in the process.

The game received a lot of praise for its cooperative design, along with the mechanics that it introduced in its setup and puzzle-solving sections. New mechanics, which were introduced level-wise, added to the novelty of the experience, as noted by outlets like Gamespot.

The game’s unique premise, combined with its effortless execution, earned the game a slew of accolades, beyond Game of the Year at the Game Awards. Out of the six categories that the game was nominated for, it won three of them. In addition to being 2021’s Game of the Year, it received awards for Best Family Game and Best Multiplayer Game.

It also claimed the Better With Friends trophy at the Steam Awards and the Excellence in Multiplayer award at the SXSW Gaming Awards.
