Funcom, the developer behind Dune: Awakening, is bringing a new open-world survival game to PlayStation 5. The game is currently available for PC users via Early Access on Steam.
Developed by Astrolabe Interactive, Aloft is all set to arrive on PS5 in early 2027. The console launch will coincide with the game’s full 1.0 release on PC, following six years of development. Both versions will feature the complete game, including new content and improvements introduced during Early Access.
Aloft entered Steam Early Access on January 15, 2025. Published by Funcom, the PS5 version will include more than two years’ worth of updates alongside the 1.0 content. As of writing, the game holds “very positive” reviews on Steam.

What to expect from Aloft on PS5?
Aloft is a cozy open-world survival game set among floating islands surrounded by clouds. Players can transform these floating landmasses into fully functional skyships to navigate the skies. They can also build homes among the clouds and explore the vibrant and colorful world on their own or with friends.
According to the official blog post, Astrolabe has released five major content updates since Early Access began on PC. Those updates added new wildlife, puzzles, combat improvements, glider customization, and expanded exploration.
Players can restore damaged ecosystems and cure fungal corruption across the islands. They can also uncover lost knowledge, care for animals, and brave hurricanes as they work to restore the environment.
“Aloft has always been a passion project fueled by the unwavering support and love of our community. Reaching this milestone is incredibly exciting for us, as this will mark a new era for the game, and a new beginning for everyone taking to the skies,” said Astrolabe CEO Manuel Bergeron.
The developer has not yet shared pricing details, available editions, or an exact release date for the game. Astrolabe Interactive confirmed that more details will be announced at a later date.
