PlayStation Plus just rolled out new subscriber rewards, but players are already pushing back against the announcement. The latest additions include entertainment services, shopping discounts, and subscription offers, but players aren’t convinced that they provide enough value.
PlayStationUK announced the new perks in a post on X, writing, “Introducing new perks for PlayStation Plus members. Enjoy a range of special offers, trials and discounts from PlayStation, Sony and select partners. All included with your PlayStation Plus membership.” However, users took to the comments to question the value of the new perks.
@atcalexj questioned, “How is a free trial a perk?” @RUSHER_117 wrote, “Calling free trials a perk is a big reach.” While @Elek_M commented, “3-month trial? And what after? Usually these are one-time occasions. On Revolut, you can get a normal full subscription next to your monthly sub.” Furthermore, @SajousGelumer added, “Trial YouTube, it isn’t a perk, DUDE. Everyone is able to obtain a three-month trial. If it isn’t permanent, it’s BS.”
PlayStation Plus rewards leave subscribers questioning their value
According to the official website, the new perks include a three-month YouTube Premium trial, a two-month Calm Premium trial, a Sony Pictures Core movie credit, a discounted Audible subscription, and an offer for DAZN Ultimate. Members can also access discounts on selected PlayStation hardware and Sony Electronics products. The benefits are available to PlayStation Plus members with accounts registered in the UK, France, and Germany, although individual offers have their own eligibility requirements.
However, several of these perks focus on third-party entertainment and wellness services rather than gaming itself. Some offers are restricted to eligible new customers, while the PlayStation Direct discount applies only to selected purchases and excludes digital services. Some promotional subscriptions automatically renew into paid plans unless users cancel before the promotional period ends.
These limitations help explain why some players have been unimpressed with the rewards, sparking criticism on X. While the offers may appeal to subscribers who already use the participating services, their value largely depends on individual interests rather than the core gaming benefits of PlayStation Plus.
