Activision still believes in Infinity Ward

You guys remember Infinity Ward, right? They’re the development team that originally created the Call of Duty franchise and pretty much disbanded entirely earlier this year. Despite that crutch, Activision believes that Infinity Ward is still capable of creating great new franchises that gamers will love.

Activision’s Executive Vice President Dave Stohl recently told VG247 that the remaining team still has a strong shooter philosophy (great).

“There is definitely a strong shooter philosophy there, for sure. And I think that there’s a short- and long-term view on the whole thing. But I think we’re rebuilding a studio that can go off and build great new franchises in the future.”

As for the lack of man power, considering more than 30 team members walked out, Activision is currently in the process of filling the team with superb talent. Unfortunately, this is going to be an uphill battle that is somewhat impossible to achieve.

“It is still a huge recruiting drive. I’ve been a development guy for a long time, right? Recruiting at IW is not a problem,” he said.

“What we’re trying to do is say that IW is a culture, it’s a way of doing things, there’s a lot of people there and there’s still a lot of passion for doing it.

“We’re trying to rebuild, trying to help them and support them to rebuild. So people are stepping up, new people are coming in and we’re setting the bar so high. And we’re making sure it fits with the culture of what IW actually is. So far so good.”

Only time will tell if the development team behind Call of Duty can regain its legs and push forward as a respectable developer. It’s going to be difficult without a lot of the lead talent that left the team behind. Do you think there is any hope?

No more games from Activision, not buying BlackOps either eventhough its make by Treyarch because its a Activi$ion game. Activ$ion don’t care about quality, only about the money.
