Red Faction making its way to PSN

THQ’s Danny Bilson has stated that the publisher plans to release a Red Faction title on to the PlayStation Network in order to help build anticipation for its upcoming Armageddon title. One of the key aspects of this downloadable adventure is the inclusion of mini-games that THQ plans to add to its franchises throughout the future.

“One of the other strategies we have is Xbox Live and PSN games on our big brands. They’re revenue generators and marketing tools,” says Bilson.

“There’s going to be a Red Faction Arcade game that ships about three or four months before Armageddon. What’s interesting is that we will sell it to the fans, it will have content you can download that is TV show-related, it will build up to the new game and also we can use it to drive pre-orders, too; we can give codes and aspects of it, we can give the whole thing away.”

Of course, THQ doesn’t plan on stopping with just mini-games, but also has a desire to head into the comic world with its titles as well. You can expect this to start happening around the upcoming Holiday season.

“Not only that, we have a comic book coming on it as well. And in December we’ll announce the Saint’s Row situation, which is the biggest trans-media play anyone has ever done.”

  1. I’d settle for the original PS2 game on the store but PS2 games on PSN are taboo. 🙂

  2. Sweet, so are we getting a remake of the original Red Faction or a brand new one?
