PlayStation Move sells over 4 million units

Sony has just released sales information regarding its PlayStation Move accessory and it is definitely interesting. Apparently, the peripheral that brought motion gaming to the PlayStation 3 has sold over 4.1 million units on a world wide scale to date. Considering the product has only been on store shelves for a mere two months, this is very impressive.

Microsoft released information earlier than Kinect had reached the 2.5 million sales goal with 5 million in its crosshairs for the Holiday season and it looks as though Sony’s PlayStation Move is hot on the heels of matching that type of production, if not exceeding it significantly.

Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) today announced that the sales of PlayStation®Move motion controller for the PlayStation®3 (PS3®) computer entertainment system reached over 4.1 million units worldwide. The milestone was reached in just 2 months since its release in September for North America, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, and 1 month since the release in October for Japan. The number not only shows clear success of the launch of the new motion sensing controller but also indicates positive momentum going in to the holiday season and to the year 2011.

This is an incredible feat and definitely shows that Sony PlayStation 3 owners are embracing the technology at a rapid rate.

You should take into account that this doesn’t necessarily mean 4.1 million homes..
Tbh I think Kinect has a larger install base, like every person I know who has the Move has at least 2 controllers =P
