Rumor: Uncharted 3 Headed to the Desert?

Nathan Drake has taken his treasure hunting act to a lot of beautiful exotic places, but if an inside source is correct, he’s bringing his next adventure to the dry lands of the desert. Apparently, an inside source has spoken with Kotaku and revealed that Uncharted 3 will not only take place in the desert, but that it is going to be revealed on December 12th as Sony’s big exclusive announcement.

Obviously the idea that this is the big reveal isn’t exactly a blockbuster concept. Every major website has lead with the belief that that would be the reveal — however, placing Uncharted in the desert is definitely an interesting concept. Is Naughty Dog going to be able to take the dry wastelands of life and make it look as gorgeous as its predecessors? It remains to be seen, but given the talent that the developer has on staff, it’s definitely plausible.

How excited would you be to play a desert-based Uncharted? Do you think it will have the same pop as the previous two which relied heavily on its beautiful scenery to ‘wow’ users? It’s going to be quite a long wait to December 12th to finally check this bad boy out.

  3. What would be awesome is if the game messed with our heads by making us see mirages if we stayed out in the heat for too long. I just can’t imagine much platforming to be had in the desert though. Climbing up a sand dune doesn’t sound that fun or like it’d have much cover.
