Battlefield 3 to be unveiled at GDC 2011

This March at GDC 2011, EA is to announcement Battlefield 3 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Battlefield is one of the shooters that many people put above the critically acclaimed Call of Duty series, and has become much more popular thanks to the massive success of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

EA says that they will be holding an unveil event on March 1, 2011 for the game. In addition, they will be announcing more titles and give hands-on time with some highly anticipated titles including Shadows of the Damned, Alice Madness Returns, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, and Crysis 2.

Battlefield 3 certainly has high expectations surrounding it. Β It was only a bit over a month ago that EA CEO John Riccitiello was discussing the upcoming year for EA, and said:

β€œI have great expectations to do a lot better in 2011 than in 2010 on the strength of a couple of products like Bulletstorm and Crysis, but most importantly for us, Battlefield 3, which I feel incredibly good about.”

Though EA was by no means far from a big name in the FPS world, this raises the stakes. With many peoples’ already standing opinion that Battlefield is the best of the FPS of them all, and the heavy competition with Call of Duty series, 2011 is sure to be an important and determining year for EA.

Be sure to check back during early March, when we’re sure to have plenty of great Battlefield 3 information.
