Fans of classic platformers are in for a treat as a remaster of Argonaut Software’s beloved PS1 game is finally coming to PS5. The developer has announced a new release date for Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, a remaster of the 1999 sequel to Croc. The announcement comes just over 29 years after the first game debuted on PlayStation.
Argonaut Software also announced the start of Croctober, a month-long celebration of the franchise. The original Croc 2 follows the eponymous crocodile on a quest to find his long-lost birth parents and rescue Professor Gobbo from Baron Dante. The remaster was first teased in 2025 following the release of the Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster.
Players will journey through four distinct villages in the game, each showcasing a unique Gobbo culture. As players capture Gobbos, they’ll also take the fight to new Guardians like Soveena the Squid, Cannon Boat Keith, and Flavio the Thermal Fish.

What’s new in Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos?
The remaster features enhanced visuals, quality-of-life upgrades, and the new Croc2pedia museum. Croc2pedia is an in-game museum housing several behind-the-scenes materials from the original Croc 2’s development. This includes 3D models of cut content and a 90-minute Croc2mentary that includes interviews with the original game and the remaster’s developers and producers. It also includes the sequel’s original game design documentation, promotional material, and marketing assets.
“Croc 2 takes Croc beyond his first adventure, with four distinct villages, new ways to explore, and his search for his long-lost parents at the heart of the story,” said Jez San OBE, Argonaut’s founder. “Sharing that adventure with another generation of players on October 29 is something very special.”
The sequel also adds new moves to Croc’s roster, including a triple-jump on top of tail-spinning. It features over 40 levels with vibrant environments that Croc can race in and fly through. As for its title, it is an ode to the game’s original name during its development.
Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos launches October 29 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG. Argonaut Software did not announce pricing details for the game.
