Beyond Good and Evil 2 still in development

Despite fears, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has not been cancelled. Journalists at last year’s GamesCom in Cologne heard from Ubisoft that the game had been put on hold (and possibly worse). This backed up comments from Ubisoft’s North American president, Laurent Detoc, in July 2009:

“Whether or not it [Beyond Good & Evil 2] comes out remains to be seen anyway, but we didn’t want to abandon that IP because it has a cache and authenticity about it. There’s something very pure about that game and it’s too bad that we were not able to build it as an IP at the time.”
“Well, I didn’t say there’s definitely going to be another game. I said something had leaked, which means we’ve been working on some Beyond Good and Evil stuff, but whether there’s going to be another game or not, that’s something for the future.”

Peut-on avoir des nouvelles de I Am Alive et Beyond Good & Evil 2 ?
Ils sont toujours en production tous les deux…
Translation:
Can we have some news about I am Alive and Beyond Good & Evil 2?
Both are still being developed….

Whether or not it [Beyond Good & Evil 2] comes out remains to be seen anyway, but we didn’t want to abandon that IP because it has a cache and authenticity about it. There’s something very pure about that game and it’s too bad that we were not able to build it as an IP at the time.

Well, I didn’t say there’s definitely going to be another game. I said something had leaked, which means we’ve been working on some Beyond Good and Evil stuff, but whether there’s going to be another game or not, that’s something for the future.

With the game’s development up in the air, further support for the title being cancelled came by way of Ubisoft’s latest financial reports which listed all games to be releasedduringn 2010 and early-2011. Beyond Good and Evil 2 was nowhere to be seen. However, in an interview with Gamekult, Geoffroy Sardin, Ubisoft France’s CEO replied to the question of I Am Alive and Beyond Good and Evil 2’s existence with the following:

Both are still being developed…

To the point. Though the ellipses at the end doesn’t inspire too much confidence.
