Sony’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications, Patrick Seybold, has revealed that December has officially been recognized as Sony’s best month not only for the PlayStation hardware sales, but for the PlayStation Network’s downloadable software as well.

Seybold boasts that Sony saw a 90% increase in console sales in comparison to last December and over a 155% increase in downloadable content sales compared to the same time frame last year. Not only that, but December was also the highest selling software month for PlayStation 3 software as well.

While many gamers will relate these claims to the results of December’s NPD numbers releasing later today, it should be known that NPD only covers North America, while Seybold’s figures are discussing world wide figures. Of course, regardless of the NPD numbers released, a lot of fanboys will ignore this and utilize it for their console warfare mayhem. Tsk tsk.
