TGS ’10: Devil May Cry Screens and Trailer

Another one of Capcom’s unannounced titles and Ninja Theory’s big announcement was the unveiling of Devil May Cry and the reboot into the franchise. While this may anger a lot of hardcore fans, I do have to say that I like the new grittier, urban feel that the debut trailer is giving off. Capcom alongside Ninja Theory guarantee that this iteration is going to redefine the franchise — whether or not that’s a bad thing is up to you.

Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC will depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment.

  1. I didn’t expect much after 4, but if I did I’d be pretty pissed at this crap.

  2. that is utter bullshit. that is not dmc

  3. I’m done with Ninja Theory.

  4. Awful, awful, awful.

    God, this just looks bad.

  5. Will have to see how it turns out. Looks pretty fun. All the DMC games were fun to play but Dante looks terrible. Looks like a punk-emo kid. He needs to be more bad-ass.

  6. They couldn’t keep Dante looking the same? He’s one of the most iconic game characters out there. They really shouldn’t have changed him.

I’m not complaining though, I’m sure the game will be great.

  7. WTF? That’s Dante? that is not dante, this is why Capcom should be the ones making the game not ninja theory, or at least make the original character designer be the one heading the art department.

  8. Jesus, relax people. Bayonetta showed that DMC was becoming old hat, so I don’t blame Capcom or Ninja Theory for starting from scratch, and that includes Dante’s design. He was in 2.5 good games out of 4, which to me doesn’t make an icon.

  9. I think the new Dante looks interesting. He looks more complex than the white haired Dante.

  10. where is the old dante that we know and love ?
