Do fans want more Assassin’s Creed?

According to Ubisoft, fans of the franchise definitely want more Assassin’s Creed action — a lot more. However, the developers of the time-skipping action do not want to take its fans for granted and milk the franchise like other popular titles have in the past. Ubisoft is determined to create a world worth playing within and completing with each iteration of AC that releases.

Speaking CVG, Patrick Plourde says “I think people want more of Assassin’s Creed so, so far so good. We don’t want to take anyone for granted so we’ve already put in a lot of effort into making sure we bring novelty, improvements, an entirely new storyline and a multiplayer element that is a unique and fresh experience for players.

“People that were curious about Assassin’s Creed but were hoping for multiplayer before but it wasn’t there are probably going to be curious and want to try it,” he said. “The same goes with the storyline because as we add more episodes in our brand more and more people are learning about the franchise and will say okay this is getting into a lineage, I should go back and play the first one, second one and then this.”

It’s very refreshing to see a designer take this stance with the franchise because gamers have been subjected to a lot of publishers releasing titles that simply feel like money milkers. The most recent franchises I can think of that have gone down this route in some shape or form is the Tomb Raider series and Sonic the Hedgehog.

With the addition of a multiplayer component to Assassin’s Creed, it should definitely appeal to the new-age of gamers that are more concerned with games coming with MP than titles that lack it. Ubisoft is moving in the right direction and I’m hopeful that the right amount of work is being put into both portions of the game.

  1. Interesting stand and I hope Ubi stick by it and offer good content. As long as they keep it fresh I’ll keep on buying AC games.

I know for sure that I’m intrigued by the MP aspect of AC but it remains to be seen if it works. I’m not gonna get my hopes up but I wont write it off either until I try it.

  2. I got a feeling the game won’t stop at AC3, maybe 4 or 5.

  3. I doubt Ubi will stop any time soon.
