In what can only be considered a very “duh” moment, it looks as though Drew Brees will be announced the Madden 2011 Cover Athlete this year over fellow players Jared Allen and Reggie Wayne. Anyone who followed the contest held by Doritos should have known that this was a forgone conclusion since day one.
After all, Drew Brees had just won a Super Bowl and was at the peak of popularity. Not only that, but with Jared Allen having a myriad of off the field issues including three DUIs, it’s not exactly hard to figure out why he lost the vote. As for Reggie Wayne, well, he just doesn’t have the star power that a man like Drew Brees has in such a Quarterback-driven league.
Expect the announcement to come on the first day of the Draft (tomorrow).

I voted for Jared Allen about 10 times in a feeble attempt to Madden Curse him. Nothing ever goes right for my Chicago sports teams.
Like the post states, this was a given. Drew Bree’s had a phenomenal year and won a Super Bowl, the others were “meh” imo.
