Jaffe: Modern Warfare 2 “felt very disjointed”

Legendary creator, David Jaffe, has once again given his opinion on one of the gaming industry’s most successful titles, Modern Warfare 2. Jaffe has stated that he feels the story behind MW2 “felt very disjointed” and he noted that during the mission “No Russian,” he wasn’t even aware that Makarov was the main bad guy in the game.

We’re not going to bash Jaffe, but it’s pretty ridiculous that he couldn’t figure out the terrorist cell unit led by Makarov was the bad guy in the whole ordeal. There wasn’t exactly many other characters to choose from.

“Man, it never occured to me those were the bad guys in the overall story. I really liked MW2 but the story felt very disjointed in that way. I didn’t really even follow what the story was.”

If you want to check out more of Jaffe’s Twitter musings, be sure to follow him here.

    WOW….he really is stupid

  2. The story was practically non-existant in MW2. It was just explosion after explosion after explosion. It really was basically Michael Bay: The Video Game. While it was fun as hell, I wouldn’t call it the most gripping campaign.

  3. No offense to Jaffe, but rather stating ur opinion on other games, can u atleast tell us that what are u working on. By the way i totally agree with Jaffe, Its just i am so desperate to know what he is working on, not what games he is playing.

  4. That is true. I thought the story in MW2 was pretty whack. I really had no idea what was going on, I would also say disjointed. Just wasn’t sure what was happening through the game.

Mw2 story was utter crap, it was just explosions and eye candy and bad camera angles to get those ADHD kids play while they are waiting to play the multiplayer. The fact the that multiplayer is ALSO crap proves how much Infinity Ward sunk themselves. Knives that lunge ridiculously long, Spawn Tubing, Noobtube, OMA DC, Mw2 is a disgrace that deceived everyone who bought it on the first week it was released (I was one of them, now I regret it cause I sold my Cod4 )

Yeah, me 2. I was a little confused about the story. They had to put more scenes where you are with Makarov so you can understand better. When I played the 2nd time through the story I’ve understand.

  7. ummm there was practically no story in MW2’s campaign lol

  8. I played the campaign hoping there was going to be some development but all it was was someone going around the world shooting people, and saying hes a bad guy kill him, or great now the u.s. army is the bad guy shoot them, or the most confusing mission no russian, which is like saying if i find out that a man from lets say some random peaceful country came here like oh i dont know new Zealand? and he just decided to get a light machine gun and ban up with other americans to kill everyone in an airport will that cause the whole country to go to war with new zealand? NO! so the story was just hey lets go shoot some guys and put as much action in it, sure it doesn’t have to make since but people like explosions more than story apparently

  9. Even thought it’s the only part of the game I like the store was a “press start to continue” experience, I could honestly give a fuck where it was going lets just do it thing.

  10. I has good buzz that might have not made any sense but yeah!

  11. i dident undrestand the story either, but i knew that in the no rusian mision you werent working with the good guys

  12. Honestly I don’t even know why Infinity Ward even bothers trying to put a single player or a co op mode in their games when clearly they suck in those areas of game development.
I can guarantee you 95% of the people bought MW2 for the online only.
No way in hell was MW2 a $60 value.
$30-$40 definitely anything more then that hell no.

  13. yeah storyline was poor. i ended up not understanding why i was in a certain place or why i was chasing and rescuing people. just a streamline fast action thrill was all it was.
