Slasher fans have a big reason to turn off the lights tonight. After months of anticipation, the latest asymmetrical horror game inspired by John Carpenter’s legendary 1978 film has officially launched on September 8.

The release lets fans step into Haddonfield and experience Michael Myers’ terrifying return, either alone or alongside other players online. Titled Halloween: The Game, the new release comes from IllFonic, with Gun Interactive serving as co-publisher. 

The game recreates the look and feel of Carpenter’s classic, with a 1970s Haddonfield setting, familiar locations, dynamic environments, and music inspired by the original movie. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Players can stalk victims as Michael Myers or fight back as Haddonfield heroes

The main attraction is a 1v4 multiplayer mode that puts one player in control of Michael Myers while four others become Heroes of Haddonfield. Michael can use stealth, darkness, and abilities such as Shape Jump to track residents and catch his targets before they can escape.

The four Heroes have very different jobs. Rather than simply running from Michael, players must search Haddonfield for useful items, warn residents about the danger, gather weapons, and work toward an escape. They can also contact the authorities and convince townspeople to fight back, which ultimately creates more opportunities to survive the night.

The game also offers a standalone single-player story mode told from Michael’s perspective. It recreates the events surrounding “The Night He Came Home” while giving players a closer look at the killer and his movements throughout Haddonfield.

Halloween: The Game is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The standard edition is priced at $39.99 on PlayStation and Steam, while a Digital Deluxe Edition is also available.
