A long-forgotten Bandai Namco PS1 action game is headed to the PS5 very soon courtesy of Hamster’s Arcade Archives 2 series. First launched in 1996 for Arcade and later on the PS1 in 1997, Xevious 3D/G is a vertically scrolling shooter in the long-running Xevious series.

Arcade Archives 2 Xevious 3D/G will launch on Thursday, September 24, for $16.99.

“The classic masterpiece Xevious is reborn in polygons,” Hamster said in a press release. “Everything is rendered in 3D with diverse screen angles and camera work, plus new weapons and enemy characters have been added. Conquer all seven areas, including the desert with the geoglyph and the space fortress.”

Xevious 3D/G got mixed reviews but garnered a cult following. The game was commercially successful but failed to impress critics.

For those not familiar with Hamster’s Arcade Archives series, the project faithfully reproduces classic games with modern features like difficulty and screen settings, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), rewind, rapid-fire, and multiple save slots.

Modes include Time Attack, Original Mode, Hi Score Mode, and Caravan Mode. Online rankings allow players to compete for the best scores.
