American actor and filmmaker Vincent D’Onofrio has stepped in to defend God of War Laufey actress Deborah Ann Woll amid an online hate campaign. Ever since the game’s reveal, Woll and Santa Monica Studio have been targeted by the usual suspects, and D’Onofrio seems to have had enough of online trolls.

God of War Laufey became the subject of controversy yet again after the game’s preorders went live. Responding to a rather ridiculous tweet accusing Santa Monica Studio of choosing “feminism over their jobs,” D’Onofrio said that Woll is “extremely talented.”

“Not that you asked, but in no way do I agree with you,” D’Onofrio wrote. “Deborah is beautiful and extremely talented. She is as smart as a whip and a complete nerd. Also incredibly kind. How perfect she is! And a good friend.”

D’Onofrio added that he was looking forward to playing God of War Laufey with his son.

D’Onofrio only infuriated the trolls further, of course, but God of War Laufey preorders seem to be off to a great start. How well the game does at launch remains to be seen.

God of War Laufey will launch exclusively on the PS5 on February 16, 2027.
