There have been plenty of rumblings about it over the past few weeks or so, but it’s finally been confirmed by Australian publication PC Powerplay: multiplayer will be coming to Mass Effect 3.
Taking to their website, PC Powerplay have revealed the cover for their next issue, which tells us that we can “fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!” Besides that, there’s no indication as to what the multiplayer actually is (though that bit of copy suggests it’s some form of co-op), but I suppose that’s the reason for people to buy the magazine. The issue will contain an interview with series producer Casey Hudson, which will hopefully shed light on this whole thing.
I don’t usually like it when multiplayer is tacked on to a game just for the sake of putting an extra bullet point on the back of the box, but who’s to say it won’t work here? Sure, Dead Space 2’s multiplayer was crap, but Uncharted 2 has had success with adding multiplayer to a formerly single-player experience.
