Please start using different words to describe things like this

Industry definition: Synonymous with “gritty” or “violent”, usually used to describe horror games or shooters (first- or third-person).

Real-life definition: The closest definition I can find to what’s above is this one:

characterized by or dealing with coarse or base emotions;earthy; crude: a visceral literary style.

Somewhere along the line the definition was altered and people started using it as they do now. I’ll admit that it rolls off the tongue quite nicely, but on top of the incorrect usage the word has become such a cliché that it people really need to consider retiring it. Who’s with me?

See: Dead Space, Resident Evil, God of War, Killzone

  5. You don’t like Retro games ? /cries

  6. @Blinky – You know I love retro games (SONIC 4!!!!), but it’s pretty easy to be let down when you haven’t played them in many, many years. Kinda like when I watched Space Jam for the first time since in over 10 years, lol.

There have been about 15 games with game of the year editions and this generation has only lasted 4 years lol
