Red Faction receiving two hour live-action movie

Today, THQ has officially announced a partnership with television network SyfyTM in order to produce and release a live-action two hour film about its Red Faction series. According to THQ’s Executive Vice President, Danny Bilson, the movie will reveal what transpired between the end of Red Faction: Guerrilla all the way up until the start of Red Faction: Armageddon — the upcoming release in the franchise.

Andrew Kreisberg, most famous for his work on Boston Legal and Fringe, has been hired to pen the script for the movie while THQ’s Director of Fictional Development, Paul DeMeo, is in charge of developing the story itself.

“This groundbreaking deal with THQ reflects our desire to deliver a completely immersive and enhanced viewing experience for the audience,” comments Mark Stern, Executive Vice President Programming, Syfy & Co-head of Universal Cable Production. “We are excited to be working with the creative team at THQ in extending the vibrant world of Red Faction to our air.”

Danny Bilson of THQ, adds “THQ is blazing a new trail in the gaming industry with our partnership with Syfy by introducing the Red Faction franchise to a new and broader audience.”

“This unique transmedia collaboration is one of many strategic initiatives in place to dramatically increase awareness for Red Faction Armageddon and extend the Red Faction brand across a wide variety of entertainment channels.”

The film is set to release in March of 2011 and may release simultaneously with Red Faction: Armageddon.

  1. Oh, god. I thought THQ cared about Red Faction. I guess not, since they’re letting SyFy do a live action movie.
