PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.10 is now available

It’s almost funny to know that only a day after Microsoft launches Facebook capabilities for its Live subscribers, Sony launches the same service for free. While many feel that Sony is playing catch up to the features Xbox Live has to offer, Firmware 3.10 further displays that Sony is running meter by meter with its competitor. According to the official Press Release, Firmware 3.10 is releasing today (PC World says it’s already available), and it will allow users to utilize Facebook integration as well as manage their photos in an entirely new way.

“Launching Facebook for the PlayStation community is a natural fit for our goal of delivering unparalleled connected experiences – from connecting our community to each other to connecting our customers to great entertainment downloaded from the PlayStation Store,” said Susan Panico, senior director, PlayStation Network, SCEA. “As we pass the third anniversary of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network, we’re excited to deepen the social experiences of PlayStation Network and kick-off the first phase of our integration with Facebook.”

  1. Seems a bit weird though, all sony has done is play catchup. They just keep copying when are they going to give us something good something 360 users do not already have.

  2. yes! but sony needs to release sum-thing that 360 doesn’t have

  3. there’s no psn firmware update out today.

  4. @hitek

  5. i just really want cross game chat. i mean seriously thats almost worth paying for the xbox subscription

  6. Yeah Cross Game chat Thats why on my 360 I pay the $4 a month subscription, and all my friends are on the 360, cause I would never even buy a mic. for the ps3, literally it is worthless .

  7. What is so good about cross game chat? I only chat with the people on my team in my game that I’m playing.Use the phone to talk, or stop playing and chat on the computer.
