PlayStation 3 shifts 300K+ in September

Analysts Wedbush Morgan confirmed earlier this morning that the PlayStation sold 314,000 units in September 2010. Despite this figure being down 37% from last year, that decline can undoubtedly be attributed to the fact that the PlayStation 3 Slim released last year in September as well.

Furthermore, September resulted in Sony toppling Nintendo in the sales chart, but still trailing behind the 360 with the release of Halo Reach. Overall, it seems as though Sony had quite a solid month, though software sales could have been improved upon. Considering Sony has pushed back LittleBigPlanet 2 and Gran Turismo 5 is still up in the air, the company needs to make some quick decisions if it wants to rebound on the software side of things.

Hopefully in the coming months, Wedbush Morgan continues to supply the public with the official numbers each month now that NPD has decided to stop doing so.
