It’s that time of year again when PS5 and PS4 players can claim three months’ worth of PS Plus Essential free games with a one-month subscription. While the games do require an active membership to play, this biannual trick comes in handy for several reasons.

Get 3 months of free PS Plus Essential games with a 1-month subscription using this trick

As a reminder, this trick works when the first Tuesday of the month (when Essential games go live) falls on a day that enables users to claim monthly lineups for the previous month, current month, and following month with a one-month subscription.

As highlighted by Reddit user LAXBASED, November 2, 2026, is the best time to purchase a one-month Essential subscription. If you do, you’ll be able to claim October’s free games right away. Then, the following day, you can claim November’s free games.

Since you would have purchased PS Plus on November 2, it won’t expire until December 2. This means that you’ll also be able to claim that month’s free lineup, since the first Tuesday of December falls on the first.

As previously mentioned, players typically use this trick to claim games they would otherwise miss, as it lets them keep the titles permanently in their library. I often pause my own backlog to activate PS Plus for a few months and play a monthly game or two I was interested in checking out, but not right away.

That said, those who wish to take advantage of the big Black Friday 2026 PS Plus sale might want to hold off on using this trick.
