Following a series of rumors, PS Portal users have received a semi-official hardware update that they’ve been crossing their fingers for. A pair of unannounced Sony Interactive Entertainment devices have recently passed certification, and from the looks of it, we’re getting the PS Portal OLED model that was first leaked by a known insider.
Is the rumored PS Portal OLED hardware update coming soon?
In January 2026, reliable leaker KeplerL2 claimed that Sony has plans to release the PS Portal OLED device sometime this year. As we approach the end of the year, the rumor was largely forgotten until this week, when two Sony gaming devices received official Wi-Fi Alliance certificates (thanks, ResetEra).
The product model codes listed on the certificates match those of the PS Portal. We’re assuming the slight difference in the model codes is down to different regions, and we’re getting one major revision overall.
Here are some of the features of the unannounced device:
- Android 15
- Wi-Fi 5 (2.4GHz + 5GHz)
- 3.5mm earphone and USB only for charging
As for when Sony will announce the PS Portal OLED, if this rumor is true, we’re expecting an announcement and release in time for the prime holiday shopping season, which kicks off in November.
