Sony has managed to generate a lot of positive buzz for their upcoming Vita handheld, so it’s no surprise that people are excited to get their hands on it. There are always people willing to import their hardware from other regions for the sake of getting it before anyone else, and the PSP successor is no different.
In this case, preorders for the handheld can be found in excess of $1,000 on the popular auction site eBay. And the seller still has the nerve to charge $100 more for shipping! Well played, jerk, well played.
Play-Asia also have a preorder page set up for the Vita, but no price has been set just yet.
With the Vita being region-free, the idea of importing to get first dibs is natural. Whether that privilege is worth a small fortune is up to individual consumers, but I’ll take a pass.
