PS3 Motion Control is a “platform”

PS3 Studio Boss, Michael Denny, has expressed to GI.biz that the company’s upcoming motion controller is its very own platform in a sense and that they plan on marketing it not only to the casuals, but to the hardcore gamer as well. Unlike the company’s attempt to force feed the SIXAXIS motion control through certain titles, Denny feels that the new technology will be a more natural process to the core experience of gaming.

“The motion control system we’re putting in place going forward is we’re treating as more of a platform,” he said. “You’re right that here in Europe we have a lot of experience helping develop the peripherals for our social games but we see the motion control solution and experience as being broader than that.

“We do believe it can come into a core experience as well,” Denny added. “The development of motion control software and games is a worldwide venture for us.”

Personally, I still stand by the fact that I believe any form of motion technology whether it be through Natal, the Wii or Sony is nothing more than a gimmick. It’ll be pretty big upon release, but much like the Nintendo Wii, most people will allow it to collect dust as time passes.

They say that any game that has been made can be converted to be controlled with the motion controls. But their not going to have blockbuster titles like uncharted 3,be centered around that in the making of the game.Their will be games made just for it and add ons like Resident Evil and Little Big Planet, those two have been announced to be compatible, who knows maybe Lair can be remastered to be a good game.

  5. motion control like sixaxis where it upgrades the current controller to make a good use of some gaming elements like improving aviation games is ok for me
but any form of replacing the current controller is a step in the wrong direction
just stay with the dualshock3 and the ps aye sony

  6. so long as they make some good ass games on there…im in…

and like MrMustBeNice said, an RE Chronicles would be nice!

  7. Meh, I think motion control has its place. I’ll never prefer it to playing a game with a controller, but there are a few types of games which can benefit from this kind of thing, shooters and games with swords can, if they’re specifically made with the motion control in mind, or if it’s a really good port.

And I think Sony should at least try their hand at it.

You need think about it. Despite the emails, the overwhelming evidence showing global warming is happening hasn’t changed.
“The e-mails do nothing to undermine the very strong scientific consensus . . . that tells us the Earth is warming, that warming is largely a result of human activity,” Jane Lubchenco, who heads the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told a House committee. She said that the e-mails don’t cover data from NOAA and NASA, whose independent climate records show dramatic warming.
