Sony has quietly rolled out a firmware update for PS5 accessories, but it hasn’t released any patch notes. Players are being prompted to update their Pulse Elite headset and the PlayStation Link device software.

PS5 Pulse Elite September 2026 firmware update causing connection problems for players

The firmware update for Pulse Elite was rolled out sometime yesterday, September 21. Players have been reporting connection problems since the update that seem to stem from a synchronization issue between the headset and PS Link.

One solution we have found is to plug in the Pulse Elite headset via a USB-C cable, then follow these steps:

Go to Settings > Accessories > General > PS Link Support > PS Link Device Software Update, then start the available updates.

After following the steps above, your dongle should pair with your Pulse Elite headset.

In related news, Sony is releasing the PlayStation Pulse Wireless headset as a successor to the Pulse Elite. The accessory will launch in early 2027 and will be compatible with existing PS Link dongles.

“Superior sound quality remains at the heart of the new headset lineup, with custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that deliver exceptional sound separation and spatial accuracy,” Sony wrote.

A release date for the PlayStation Pulse Wireless headset has not been announced yet.
