PS5 System Update Rolled Out to Ring in October 2026
PS5 and PS5 Pro system software update

Sony Interactive Entertainment quietly rolled out PS5 system software update 26.06-14.10.00 on October 1. From the looks of it, this firmware revision combats (or attempts to combat) the most recent PS5 jailbreak.

PS5 system software update 26.06-14.10.00 patch notes (October 1, 2026)

Patch notes for October’s first PS5 system software update are as follows:

  • We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.
  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability.

That’s all for today’s update. The patch notes make no mention of the newly-enabled PS5 Pro-like upscaler on the base consoles.

In case you missed it, the base PS5 now supports Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR). The AI upscaler isn’t widely available to developers yet, but is already live in Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei as of today.

“While PSSR remains the gold standard on PS5 Pro, QSSR provides some notable improvements to both image detail and image stability on PS5,” Sony explained.

Born out of Sony’s collaboration with AMD, QSSR utilizes the following innovations:

  • A streamlined neural network architecture
  • A hand-tuned implementation that maximizes performance on PS5

It’s unclear if Sony will roll out a system update when QSSR is made available to external developers, but we’ll keep our readers posted.
