Sony’s Qriocity has become quite successful after it originally became available in June 2010. The service is an On-Demand of a sort, giving users access to movies, music, and other media. After having had success in its first few months, Qriocity’s Music Unlimited came to the UK and Ireland in December 2010. Sony has continued to expand their less than year old service, having recently brought it to regions such as France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Now, the service is coming to the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
Of course, such things always come with a price. The pricing will be split into two parts, allowing PSN members to be a basic or premium member. The basic membership is priced at $3.99 a month, granting access to ad-free radio services, and the ability to create your own personalized channels. For $9.99 a month, premium users will have access to all of Music Unlimited’s 6 million songs for individual playback. Additionally, premium members get the ability to create playlists, mark favorite songs, and access channels exclusive to members under the premium membership.
American PSN users will certainly enjoy the addition, and you’ll certainly find me looking into it further to see if it’s worth the cost. Unfortunately, PlayStation Plus users will not be getting any discounts this go around.
