In case you haven’t heard, Electronic Arts has recently been laying off a lot of employees. According to Kotaku.com, this trend of layoffs is set to continue in Los Angeles today with the entire Pandemic team. That’s roughly 200 employees. While not all of the team will be forced to the unemployment line, it’s surely a good chunk of them. Stragglers left behind will be relocated to other divisions of EA and Pandemic’s upcoming releases is expected to be taken over by EA Montreal.
This does mean that The Saboteur will have a different development team putting the finishing touches on the product. Hopefully that doesn’t effect anything in terms of quality. Take all of this as a rumor until EA announces anything concrete.
I hope that The Saboteur isn’t reduced in quality in any way because of this. The release date is around the corner, so the game should pretty much be done. Even worse, though, is the fact that this will probably ruin any chance of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 coming to any next-gen consoles.
R.I.P.
