Today, the rumors circulating Prince of Persia and Mortal Kombat being released as remastered collections for PlayStation 3 gained a lot more steam. In case you’re not aware, the rumor has been that the Prince of Persia Trilogy and the Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection were making its way to the PS3 in the form of an HD re-release much like Team ICO and God of War. However, there had been no confirmation from publishers regarding the story.
However, boxart for the upcoming titles surfaced today on the web lending validity to the rumor that this is indeed going to happen. Furthermore, each title is said to carry 3D support, which should bring some punch to your fatalities. It’s also believed that Splinter Cell is going to be the next series revamped for PlayStation 3 in the near future as well.
Check out the box art below.

I could understand the PoP game remakes remastered and being sold at retail. But the MK games are like 20MB combined, what’s the point of charging $40-60 for that even if remastered in HD.
I might pick up the PoP games if they really do come out since I loved PoP ’08 and never got to play the previous ones.
I agree with RK. Besides, what games are going to be part of the MK Collection? There are four classic games, and one is already on PSN, so does that mean that it’s going to have MK, MK3, and MK4? Not worth even $30.
since were talking about the old arcade Mortal Mombat, i would not be interested in it unless it was fully remade like the Siren: blod curse
as for Prince of Pesisa, ewen if it was fully remade it would still be the same boring Prince of Persia
Interested in PoP and might get that.
Couldn’t care less about MK.
I still play MK 2 on the PS3, would love to get the 3rd game on there.
Cool, I heard that Midway is also re releasing MK:Trilogy for the PS3 soon. But I’ve been hearing rumors that It will be released on Xbox live and PS3 network not the game itself. I really hope it will released the game itself for retailers. If it will, it’s going to suck.
The PSN version of MKII was just glitchy version of Super NES’s MKII. Poor rendering, slow play, bad sound etc. I think it’s literally the arcade version (remastered) of the first 3 games. Why else would they put it out. word would get out and they’d lose money, if it sucked
I don’t know, I think they are making a big mistake by putting UMK3 on it, instead of MK: Trilogy, since Trilogy is basically an upgrade of UMK3 with better features, and more characters to choose from.
Then again, if they released them all on PS3 disk, then they should have included every MK game from beginning to end, and call it an official HD Collection, but thats just my opinion.
