Sony is investigating latest hacking claims

According to IncGamers, Sony is looking into the recent allegations made by George Hotz that he has indeed hacked the Hypervisor of the PlayStation 3. While this information is expected and a pretty obvious situation, it’s good to know that Sony is keeping on eye on things like this.

Here is the statement from Sony, despite being as short as possible.

“We are investigating the report and will clarify the situation once we have more information.”

We’ll keep you guys updated on if anything news comes of this.

Is there any way u can pay him off,and maybe sign a contract saying that he can not release any info on the Hypervisor.I would think the best way[to keep him Hush-Hush} is to have him work 4 sony and be liable to be sewed if he gives out the companies secrets.Im not a hacker but im sure if hes this good he can help to prevent it.

  2. Get ”rid” of George Hotz.

    Problem solved.

  3. Still cant settle on if this is a good or bad thing.

  4. Ironically I was all for homebrew on PSP because they weren’t giving fans everything they wanted. But on PS3, they are delivering in spades and I feel we should support the console. I hope it is either a hoax or that Sony implements a way to stop it again.

  5. Sony: Give me NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 and DC emulators on the PSN, and I will gladly keep away from this.

  6. dood there is already an emulator for the PS3 via linux…..

but yeah, i hope the Ps3 is only hacked…but no piracy!! i want to see the homebrew that the PS3 can provide!

  7. Moogle, there is no Linux on PS3 as Sony deleted all OS support. That move by Sony got Geohot’s attention.
