Despite being severely late to the party in terms of zombie shooters, Sony has been hard at work in promoting and marketing Dead Nation to the public. Last week, they released two more trailers for the game that shows exactly how you can survive the zombie blitz as well as what to expect from the title.
Unfortunately for the developers of Dead Nation, they’re releasing the title after the release of Burn Zombie Burn and Zombie Apocalypse, both of which, follow the same type of play style as Dead Nation. Fortunately, on the other hands, a lot of PlayStation Plus subscribers have been invited to take part in a closed beta of Dead Nation and hopefully word of mouth is good enough to spread the sales of the title out a bit further.
Let us know below if you got an invite and if so, what you think of it so far.
I’m a beta tester for SCEE and got my invite last Monday.
I own Burn Zombie Burn, and I tried the demo of Zombie Apocalypse. I initially overlooked Zombie Apocalypse in favour of waiting for Dead Nation, as I’d seen early trailers. In fact, after playing the beta of Dead Nation, I re-downloaded the Zombie Apocalypse demo to try it again – but I still haven’t bought it, as I’m even more convinced that waiting for Dead Nation was the right move.
In my personal opinion, Dead Nation is way, way better than either of those other PSN zombie titles. It looks better, plays better, and has more depth than either of them, even in this current beta form. I have already put more hours into it than both of the other games combined.
If you like either of those other titles, or even if you like zombie games in general, you REALLY need to buy Dead Nation when it gets released. I’m pretty certain you’ll love it.
I have both Zombie Apocalypse and Burn Zombie Burn, and well… lets just say that they’re not as good as Dead Nation. Burn Zombie Burn is too slow and Zombie Apocalypse is very dull and boring. Dead Nation is overall a better game and I think its gonna be one of those PSN titles that ITS A MUST OWN (like Wipeout, Flower, etc…)
I got a beta code. I haven’t tried the game yet. I’m just glad Sony is giving us Plus users more than just discounts and free Minis, with the occasional free PSN game or theme.
I’m in the beta. Looks like the co-op is locked down for the beta but the single player campaign is available. I too have the other zombie games and this one is by far the better. It’s not a twin stick shooter, you actually use the R1 trigger to fire. This leaves your sticks to maneuver and aim. I like this method as it makes it feel like a more traditional shooter where you use skill and precision rather than a mass area of effect of bullets hitting everything in sight. There are some areas where there is ton of zombies, but they can still be handled with the environment and weaponry rather than feeling like you need the gun to fire continuously. I look forward to purchasing this to earn the trophies once it releases.
