Are you one of the millions of fans that were disappointed when Free Radical went down the tubes and with it, so did the possibility of a TimeSplitters’ sequel? I’m definitely in that boat. Thankfully, when Crytek turned Free Radical into CryTek UK, I figured that perhaps one day we’d get to see TimeSplitters again and according to Karl Hilton, CryTek UK’s Boss, that possibility is slowly shaping up.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Hilton revealed that CryTek UK is seeking a publisher for the title and if there is interest, it may receive the green light for development.

“We’re talking to publishers at the moment about whether that’s [TimeSplitters] a viable route or not,” he said.

“There hasn’t been a TimeSplitters game for quite a while. Obviously TimeSplitters is a FPS with a strong multiplayer element. The question is, is that the way to go with another one, or should it go down a different route, or should we be developing a new IP altogether?”

“It’s down to us talking to publishers about what their interest is and where they see it going. If they’re keen for a TS game, then we’d be happy to do one. If they’d like us to develop something new then we’d do that,” he added. “Whether the TS is like the classic TS or whether the TS is a new imagined TS, that’s the other thing to discuss with them.”

This is great news as far as we’re concerned. I know I can’t be alone in spending a ton of nights with friends throwing down in TimeSplitters with sticky mines while having a good time. Hopefully a publisher decides to pick this bad boy up because it has been far too long (2005) since TS has seen a release.
