Valkyria Chronicles to receive DLC next week

Japan has been very lucky to receive all four batches of DLC for Valkyria Chronicles while North America has had to deal with only being served the first three. Finally, SEGA has announced that the fourth pack of DLC is making its way to the west and will be available for download next week.

The fourth pack of content is known as “The Challenges of the Edy Detachment” and is a set of six missions that will spotlight the specialization of each class of soldier.

All in all, the six missions include challenging goals based on mastering the following classes:

  • Scout
  • Shocktrooper
  • Lancer
  • Engineer
  • Sniper
  • Tank

In addition, you aren’t limited to only using members of Edy’s Detachment! You can field any of your personal favorites from Squad 7 that you’d like to use.

For Valkyria Chronicles’ fans like myself, this is an awesome announcement and something we’ve been waiting on for a long while. If you haven’t had the opportunity to pick this game up yet, you can do so for roughly $20 at a local GameStop. It’s definitely one of the best gaming experiences available on the PS3 to date.

  1. alright! this is my favorite game, this will give me a reason to go back to it 😀

  2. It’s about time! This game has been out how long?

  3. This may be causing people to buy the game if they didn’t already

well they’ve had other dlc, one were you play as edy’s squad, and another where you play as the empire under selvaria for a couple of missions. both of those were really fun, so i have high hopes for this one

  5. Thats great news for owners of the game. That is a lot of DLC though, 4 different DLC downloads, hopefully they are worth it.

  6. Yeah, but holding off 4 packs of DLC this long? Gonna be epic.

  7. Darn, just last week i completed this game. so i’ll just PASS on

  8. @ zach
it says the fourth is coming, not that four are coming. the first 3 are already available

  9. I need to go back and actually finish the game’s campaign first lol

  10. @xero Woops lol

  11. I will most likely get this if the price is right. I imagine it will be priced in the same range as the others?

And yes, this is so worth picking up. So many people have said that they’re not buying it due to lack of trophy support but you’re doing yourself a huge disservice by passing on one of the PS3’s top games. I sunk in well over 60 hours in this amazing game and still never managed to beat all the challenges (THEY ARE HARD), not to mention that the DLC offers many new challenges as well. No PS3 owner should say the system doesn’t have good RPGs if they don’t own Valkyria Chronicles. Go and buy it now!

  12. Meh, if they have time for DLC then a trophy patch shouldn’t be too hard.

I’ll rebuy it and get the DLC whenever or IF they ever do that….

  13. oh wow, VC is still getting DLC? how long has it been out for? about a year and a half now?

the lancer and tank classes sounds interesting!

  14. oh snap, i still to buy this game first, exciting new this is 🙂

  15. It’s nice to see a two-year old game still being supported.

  16. wow the dlc stuff now a days keeps games going for a while, kinda feel like i should buy this game.

  17. I can never find a fair price for this game :\ In Canada we get jobbed on prices of video games all the time. I’m not buying a used game for 50 dollars without trophies (I know they aren’t everything, but still). Great news for fans of the game still holding on to their copy.

  18. how much is the dlc? I dont like paying for dlc and will only buy it if its worth it

That is a good question, I guess they haven’t announce the price yet. Valkyria Chronicles is a very good game and it is underrated because not many people have played the game.
