The Uncharted franchise may soon unleash a brand new installment for PlayStation fans, according to the latest rumor. The last game in the action-adventure series, The Lost Legacy, was launched nearly a decade ago.

According to a scoop from NateTheHate on ResetEra, Shaun Escayg might be working on an Uncharted project at Naughty Dog.

Escayg happens to be one of the directors who worked on The Lost Legacy. Earlier this year, he even shared a cryptic image while hinting that his next game at Naughty Dog could be the new Uncharted itself. On Instagram, he posted a picture of a cannon and wrote, “Research….”

The latest rumor will make Uncharted fans more excited and hopeful because it connects to a previous claim by journalist Jordan Middler. “Obviously, a new Uncharted is coming. It’s on the way,” he said in June this year.

However, all unverified rumors and reports should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

What has Naughty Dog done since Uncharted 4?

Naughty Dog has delivered multiple games since 2016’s A Thief’s End. A year later, the PlayStation studio came out with The Lost Legacy. Instead of Nathan Drake, this entry focused on a female protagonist named Chloe Frazer.

The developer later released the much-awaited sequel to 2013’s The Last of Us. Launched in 2020, the second part continued the story of Ellie while also introducing the character of Abby.

It also revealed a dark fate for the beloved character of Joel. Despite polarizing the fanbase, The Last of Us Part II won the Best Game title at The Game Awards event.

For some time, Naughty Dog didn’t make a new title after TLOU2, but it kept on refining the old entries in the same franchise. The Last of Us Part I Remake was launched in 2022 for PS5 before The Last of Us Part II Remastered arrived in early 2024.

In late 2024, during The Game Awards, the studio finally announced its new original game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It will receive a full reveal at some point in 2027 for the PlayStation 5.
