Capcom has announced a new update for its popular fantasy action RPG game ahead of the upcoming DLC release. Dragon’s Dogma II is receiving Sony’s enhanced custom upscaling technology for PS5 Pro consoles as part of the latest patch.

Capcom is adding official Enhanced PSSR support for PS5 Pro on October 9, coinciding with the Dark Arisen expansion launch. PSSR stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s machine-learning-based upscaling technology designed to improve image quality while maintaining performance. In addition to PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, the update introduces several key additions for Dragon’s Dogma players.

Beyond PS5 Pro support, Dragon’s Dogma 2 adds several fan-requested features

Alongside the visual upgrades for the new DLC, title update 4.0 adds Hard Mode, which many players have requested since launch. The mode is designed primarily for seasoned players. A new carryover feature has also been added, allowing players to carry over their saved data and start the adventure from the beginning. If combined with Hard Mode, it gives veterans a fresh run without losing their progress.

Pawns get a new Orienteer specialization. Players exploring the open world will now receive 90 Rift Crystals instead of 30 when interacting with a Forgotten Riftstone. For a detailed view of other additions and bug fixes, check out the official blog post.

The upcoming DLC, Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen, adds a new story set in the snowy Norgan region and also introduces 12 new dungeon challenges called Lost Rites, along with new weapons, skills, hairstyles, and tattoos.

According to Capcom, players will travel to the long-abandoned Norgan region and meet Eir, who is investigating the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon. The expansion also introduces new challenges throughout the existing game world, providing players with additional content beyond the main story. PlayStation LifeStyle has rated the game a 9/10 in its review.

Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen is scheduled to release on October 9. It is currently available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store for $29.99.
