A new soulslike first-person shooter game set in an occult apocalyptic western world has finally received its PlayStation 5 release date. Developed by Eschatology Entertainment, the game is set to launch this year for PS5 and other modern consoles.

Guns of Eschaton, a mystical western soulslike game, is scheduled to launch on December 8, 2026. The game will be published by 4Divinity and can now be wishlisted on the PlayStation Store. It will also launch for the Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

What can PS5 players expect from Guns of Eschaton?

The game is created by Viktor Antonov, who was the art director of Half-Life 2, Fallout 4, and Dishonored. It offers a new take on the first-person shooter and soulslike genres, as it combines the two genres to offer gamers a unique experience through its architecture, environments, characters, narrative, and overall game design.

The game introduces the familiar imagery of the 19th-century American frontier and transforms it through occult horror, mythology, religion, history, and the supernatural. In this first-person shooter game, simply pulling the trigger is rarely the whole answer.

One of the key features of Guns of Eschaton comes with the tagline, “Every Bullet Counts,” emphasizing the intense, high-stakes gunfights of the game. However, to make it through, players must also study their enemies using the Codex to uncover weaknesses, master precise timing, and execute calculated parries when not fighting.

Moreover, gamers can create a customized playstyle through character progression and flexible buildcrafting. They can experiment with a vast arsenal of weapons, including firearms, ammunition types, occult powers, talismans, armor, and consumables. These customized choices allow each gamer to approach the apocalyptic world in different ways. Guns of Eschaton also lets players experience the journey in a solo adventure or alongside an ally through cooperative play.
