As E3 came to a close last week, Gran Turismo 5 was finally given a release date and Polyphony Digital was now taking slack for an entirely new reason — the difference between premium and standard cars. While some skeptics (ie: fanboys), wanted to point out that these standard cars were nothing more than last generation graphics (entirely untrue), it seemed like nobody was talking about the real marvel of GT5 and that is, the premium vehicle.

Though Turn10 has released two iterations of its Forza franchise this generation, neither of those releases comes close to rivaling or matching the raw detail that the premium cars in Gran Turismo offers racing fans. If you’re looking for the most realistic looking racer on the planet, Gran Turismo 5 simply has no competition.

Polyphony Digital sent out images earlier today revealing comparative shots of the real life cars to the premium models. Some of them are difficult to even tell one another apart.
