Activision has revised its lawsuit against Electronic Arts into a $400 million dollar package that includes a lot of big time claims and brings back the Modern Warfare 2 debacle into the public’s eye. Key claims in the revised suit include former Infinity Ward CEO’s Jason West and Vince Zampella purposefully delaying work on Modern Warfare 3 due to plans to leave the company which resulted in a lack of bonus checks for the IW team in general. It also goes on to say that West and Zampella were flown to EA CEO John Riccitiello’s house prior to leaving in order to discuss the future partnership between the two.
The funniest part of this entire scenario though is West and Zampella’s funny plan to bring down and crush Treyarch (I can’t blame them). Activision claims that Infinity Ward was sabotaging the marketing efforts of Treyarch’s Call of Duty title in order to “crush” them.
“On the same day that Treyarch released a video trailer promoting a follow-on product – a map pack or downloadable content – designed for players of Treyarch’s game Call of Duty: World at War, West and Zampella released a marketing video for Modern Warfare 2 with the purpose of hurting Treyarch’s and Activision’s marketing efforts.
“Far from being remorseful, West attempted to justify his actions on the grounds that Treyarch had insufficiently coordinated with Infinity Ward by stating: ‘We released on the same day as you because we had no clue you were releasing anything. We are not happy about it.’ The real truth, however, was revealed by a series of text messages between.”
The claims continue: “The employee texted West that ‘treyarch released their mp dlc video.’ West responded: ‘Super nice? We release our video? Crush and destroy with our video.’ The employee answered: ‘We already did. And . . . we already did.’ West’s following comment: ‘Nice.’ Thus, West’s own words reveal his intentional strategy to “crush and destroy” his fellow developers at Treyarch.”
To me, this is hilarious because Call of Duty on the PlayStation 3 has always been a bug infested title that shows no care from the developer side of things. If these two studios wanted to destroy one another — great. Maybe then we can get a developer inside the Call of Duty halls that would actually create a product that is equal throughout all three platforms.
Until then, man the hell up Activision…enjoy the $1 billion dollars you just made with Black Ops and go back into hiding behind Guitar Hero titles and Movie Game releases.

*facepalm*
It’s a good thing that I’ve never bought a CoD game since CoD4. That shit was laggy and buggy as hell. I might get Battlefield BC2 if it’s released on a disc with all the DLC maps and Vietnam expansion, because the multiplayer demo was awesome.
lol such a professional title.
I just don’t get why Activision can’t be happy with the billion they made from BO and move on.
We’re not a professional website, we’re a gaming blog. I’ve made worse titles 😉
I hate when companies think they can treat developers like servants, especially if they are world renowned. Because of this, they lost a great company and Call of Duty games will never be universally acclaimed again.
